Editpoint Mastering was founded in August 1992 as Crossfade Audio Post Production. However, we have been involved in the music industry since 1981. Our aim has always been to provide a service that is second to none and affordable by all.
Don Walker - Director of Editpoint
I started life in the music industry back in 1980 or thereabouts. I had been studying stage management in a drama school in North London where thanks to a mutual friend I had the privilege of being introduced to one of the top London based record producers of the time. This kindly gentleman took me under his wing and offered me employment as tea boy / goffer and very junior engineer in his London multitrack studio!
After a relatively short time I began to realise that the recording side of the music industry was not quite where I wanted to be. As luck would have it my dream job was just around the corner, I just didn’t know it yet!
In order to cut this extremely long story a little shorter…
I soon found myself in the employ of two gentlemen by the names of Bill Foster and Barry Ainsworth who traded together under the name of “Tape1”.
The company unfortunately no longer exists, but for many years they were pioneers of Digital Audio and were always at the forefront of the mastering industry.
I remained with Messrs Foster and Ainsworth for six years and then moved to a smaller company based in West Drayton for a further four years.
It was at this point that Crossfade Audio Post Production was born and today has evolved into Editpoint Mastering.
